Huntington, CA. Mail Post office. Mural.

Terry Chamberlain, my mom (Terry Slegr) has a long family tree founded way back from the first settled in Plymouth, and the Chamberlain family were some of the first to come over on the Mayflower. Her ancestry shows a long line! Mom and Grandpa Bob (my grandfather) discovered that the artist Norman Stiles Chamberlain also happened to live in Los Angeles. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1887 where most of mom’s family resides.

We took a trip down to the Huntington Park post office in 2021 to see first hand, where he painted a mural and it still exists today. It is impressive. I love post offices. This mural was painted for the Treasury Art Project and was created from 1935 - 37.

Terry Chamberlain, moje máma (Terry Slegr), má dlouhý rodokmen založený dávno před usazením v Plymouthu a rodina Chamberlainů byla mezi prvními, kteří se sem dostali na lodi Mayflower. Její předkové ukazují dlouhou linii! Máma a dědeček Bob (můj dědeček) zjistili, že umělec Norman Stiles Chamberlain také žil v Los Angeles. Narodil se v Grand Rapids v Michiganu v roce 1887, kde žije většina matčiny rodiny.

V roce 2021 jsme se vydali na výlet na poštu v Huntington Parku, abychom se na vlastní oči podívali, kde namaloval nástěnnou malbu, která existuje dodnes. Je to úchvatné. Miluji pošty. Tato nástěnná malba byla namalována pro projekt Treasury Art Project a vznikala v letech 1935–1937.
